Generally speaking, your chances of being approved for an offer in compromise are increased ten fold by retaining the services of an experienced tax professional.  A very large portion of the offer in compromise applications are rejected based on proper procedure not being followed.  This includes providing the correct documentation in a timely fashion among other things.
